2025 Remembered – Joyous scenes as Park-Ratheniska celebrate return to football’s top table

There were scenes of wild celebration in O’Moore Park last night as Park-Ratheniska claimed IFC glory.

This is the club’s second time in five seasons to triumph after they proved too strong for Arles-Kilcruise in some style.

They last won this grade in 2021 and though they spent two competitive seasons at senior, they were relegated following the 2023 campaign.

Well they’re on their way back up now after a fine display saw them record a comprehensive win here.

Their pace, mobility, directness and overall superiority came to the fore late in the first half as they took a 2-6 to 0-3 lead in at the break.

That nine-point margin didn’t flatter them at the break after brilliantly-taken goals from Podge Dunne and Cian Nolan while the outstanding Brian Dunne also hit a lovely two-pointer late in the half to help them stretch their lead.

Arles-Kilruise had the wind in the second half and did mount something of a comeback.

But they needed goals which never came and instead Park got a third through Kieran Delaney after a fine run from Jimmy Langton.

With the club set to contest a Minor A football semi final next weekend, things are certainly looking up.

This success is made even more impressive by the fact that they have been without their talisman defender Simon Fingleton all season.

Photographer Paul Dargan was present in O’Moore Park and captured some great images.
