2025 remembered – World Champion once again – Laois Irish dancer named best in the world for second year running

A two-time world champion is some achievement for young Irish dancer Bobby Kinsella, who was successful once again in April. 

There was great success in Killarney at the weekend as a Laois Irish dancer was crowned World Champion once again.

Stradbally youngster Bobby Kinsella retained the title that he won in March of 2024. 

A student of Lynam School of Irish dancing, took home first prize in the An Chomhdhail World Irish Dancing Championships.

Bobby is in 5th class in St Colman’s National School in Stradbally.

Almost 3,000 competitors from America, Scotland, England, Europe and all over Ireland took part in the World Championships.

And after some brilliant performances, Bobby was crowned champion following his success last year.

Bobby is from a renowned Irish dancing family – his Mam Carmel Manton-Kinsella is a well-known teacher.

While Carmel’s mother is the much-loved Gabrielle Lynam, who opened her dancing school way back in 1978 and has countless dancers under her tutelage.

Following success last year, Bobby was honoured with a Civic Reception by Laois County Council.

While his talents were also demonstrated on TV as he performed on the Late Late Toy Show last November. 

Posting on Instagram, Lynam School of Irish Dancing paid tribute to Bobby.

They said: “Words can’t express how proud we are of this young man.

“He starts working every morning from the minute he opens his eyes til bed time.

“A huge well done to all of his friends U-11, such a talented bunch of boys.”
