Patrick “Kidd” Mortimer.
Passed away peacefully Jan 3rd in Chicago, Illinois. Formerly of 43 Harbour Street Mountmellick.
Predeceased by his Mother Peig & brother Gerry.
Pat’s beloved partner Baz, daughter Erin and her partner Joey, sons P.J and Brendan, daughters-in-law Morgan and Monica and grandchildren Owen, Rory and Sloane, his brother Mick , sister-in-law Ann, nieces , nephew, relatives, neighbours & friends.

Christy Foran. New Rd. Portlaoise 3rd January 2025. Peacefully at his family home surrounded by his loving family . Dearly loved husband to Ellie, and loving father to Brian, Martin and Trish. Cherished grandfather to Laura, Chloe, Ciara, Eimear, Katie, Jack and Ben. Deeply regretted by his loving family. Daughters in law Carol and Bernie. Son in law Jack. Katies husband Joe. Family friend Justin. Nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and many friends. Former work colleagues in Kellys the Foundry.
Reposing at home on Sunday afternoon from 2 pm with rosary at 8 pm . Removal on Monday morning to arrive at SS Peter and Pauls Church for 11 am requiem mass. Interment will follow in SS Peter and Pauls Cemetery Portlaoise, House private on Monday morning please.
Helen Casey (née Balfe)
Lower Main St., Abbeyleix, Laois
Helen died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family. Predeceased by her husband Declan, parents Brendan and Bridget, sisters Mary and Annette and brothers Seanie, Mikey and Brendan.
Sadly missed by her loving children Sinead, Declan, Brendan and David, brother Tony, sister Pauline, daughters-in-law Audrey and Lorraine, son-in-law Richie, grandchildren Frankie, George, Ben , Dan, Lara and Sarah, sisters -in-law Teresa, Mae, Rose and Eithne nieces and nephews.
Reposing at Tullyroe Abbeyleix (R32KC79) on Monday evening from 5pm. to 8pm. with prayers at 5pm. Funeral arriving for 11am.Requiem Mass in the Church of the Most Holy Rosary Abbeyleix on Tuesday. Burial afterwards in St. Patrick’s Cemetery.
No flowers by request donations in lieu to the Irish Cancer Society.
Margaret Dooley
Thornberry, Abbeyleix, Laois
Formerly of Clonoughter, Glin, Co Limerick. and Northampton England. Margaret will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her sisters Mary, Eileen and Bridget, brother Pat, sister-in-law Mary, brother-in-law Brendan, and by her nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Reposing on Sunday evening from 4pm. with prayers at 6pm. at the residence of Paul and Geraldine Cranny, Carlow Road, Abbeyleix. Funeral arriving to the Church Of The Most Holy Rosary, Abbeyleix for 11am. Requiem Mass on Monday. Interment afterwards in St. Patrick’s Cemetery.
The family would like to thank Fr. Paddy and Fr. Peter for their guidance and comforting prayers and the staff at Brookenhaven Nursing Home Ballyragget, and St. Luke’s Hospital Kilkenny for their support, care, kindness and compassion.
Annie (Nan) Whelan

Formerly of Portlaoise, Co. Laois, and Late of St. Evin’s Park, Monasterevin, Co. Kildare
Pre deceased by her parents Jim Sheehan and Annie Sheehan (nee Neilus), brother Jim and her husband Paddy Whelan.
Annie (Nan) passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family in the wonderful care of staff of St. Anne’s Ward, St. Vincent’s Hospital, Athy.
Cherished mother of John, Patricia, Jimmy (Australia), Paul, Caroline, Róisín and Beatrice.
Sadly missed by her loving family; daughters in law Helen, Catherine and Grazyna, sons in law Darren, Shay and Wayne, grandchildren Ricky, Faith, Martyna, Kevin, Mandy, Laura, Shane, Darren, Tadhgh, Josh, Katie, Michael (Mikie), Aoife, Ciarán, Sophie and Sadie, her great granchildren, Oisin, Fiadh, Kayla, Art, Essie, Charlie, Robin, Bonnie and Jacob, sister Bridget (Bid), brothers in law, sisters in law, nieces, nephews, extended family, relatives, friends and neighbours.
Reposing at Our Lady’s Chapel Monasterevin on Saturday 3rd January from 4pm-7pm.
Requiem Mass will take place on Sunday 4th January at 11.30am in St. Peter and Paul’s Church, Monasterevin, followed by interment in St. Evin’s Cemetery.
