In Pictures: €100k raised as The Heath GAA host successful Lip Sync Battle fundraiser

The community of The Heath came together in the Heitage Hotel in Killenard on Friday night for a Lip Sync Battle that raised a fortune.

Around €100,000 was raised in total after following a brilliant evening of entertainment – with the funds going towards the community hall.

A crowd of 600 people packed the function room in the hotel and they were not disappointed.

There were ten teams overall, with the age range of participants from 17 up to a 91 year old woman in the Active Retired group.

Run in conjunction with Lip Sync Battles Ireland and judged by Fr David Vard, Louise Cody and Barry McNamee, Treacy’s Bar and Restaurant were the event sponsors.

After all the acts performed, the judges and the audience voted for their favourites with ‘Spice Bag’ coming out on top.

The act was made up of Judith Ratcliffe, Paul Delaney, Liam Delaney, Gearoid Horan and Billy Hennessy – who certainly made the Spice Girls proud.

A spokesperson for The Heath thanked everyone who made the event such a success.

They said: “A massive thank you also to Martin and everyone in Lip Sync Battles Ireland, to our brilliant (and patient!) choreographer Orna, our judges Louise, Fr David and Barry, our excellent MC Kenny and all the crew for the stage, lighting and sound which made it such a great atmosphere in the room.

“Thank you also to our organizing committee for driving the idea and bringing it fruition.

“Our event sponsors Treacy’s Bar and Restaurant and all our team sponsors and those who advertised in our event programme.

“Finally, thanks to everyone who attended, sponsored or supported our acts.

“This was a real community effort and we are so grateful to have had the support of our community behind us.

“The money raised will make our community hall a space for people of all ages.”
