A Laois childcare facility will ‘hopefully’ reopen on Monday after it was forced to close last Thursday.
Sonas Mountmellick Community Childcare is the impacted provider and they said last week that their closure was due to an ‘administrative issue with our registration as a service provider’.
However, Laois TD Sean Fleming says that he is hopeful the issue will be sorted in time for the start of the working week.
He shared an email from a special advisor to Minister for Children, Norma Foley.
It said: “I spoke to one of our senior officials there and efforts are underway in Tusla to expedite the registration for Sonas Mountmellick Community Childcare Ltd, which currently supports 136 families and 170 children.
“The hope is that the application will be approved so that the service is registered in time for Monday morning.
“This is not yet guaranteed but intensive work is ongoing.”
Deputy Fleming said: “I am pleased to confirm that TUSLA is expediting the registration of SONAS Mountmellick Childcare facility and hopefully will have the registration ready in time for Monday morning.”
