A former Laois Ladies footballer has been officially inducted into the LGFA Hall of Fame.
Former Timahoe and Laois stalwart Mary Casey has followed in the footsteps of Sue Ramsbottom by achieving the accolade.
One of the founding members of the Timahoe club in Laois, Mary has been at the heart of the club – starting as a player while also serving on the committee.
Her commitment and humility have been unwavering, and her dedication to Timahoe Ladies comes as naturally as breathing.
Mary’s playing career spans both club and county levels – and she proudly represented Laois on their 2001 TG4 All-Ireland Senior Championship winning team.
Mary currently serves her club as assistant chairperson and she’s heavily involved in coaching at underage levels.
A spokesperson for Timahoe Ladies said: “Huge congratulations to Mary Casey on her induction into the LGFA Hall of Fame — a truly outstanding and well-deserved honour.
“Mary has been one of our most loyal and hardworking committee members, a dedicated coach, and a proud former club and county player, giving countless years of commitment, passion, and leadership to our games.
“Despite all her achievements, Mary remains incredibly humble and is always up for a laugh, bringing warmth, positivity, and great spirit to everyone around her.
“Her contribution to LGFA both on and off the field has left a lasting legacy, inspiring generations of players and volunteers.

“This recognition is not only a tremendous achievement for Mary personally, but also a historic moment for our club once again, as she becomes another person from Timahoe to receive this prestigious honour, following in the footsteps of former teammate Sue. We are immensely proud of you, Mary.
“Mary will receive her Hall of Fame award along with other recipients, who will gather at Croke Park on Friday 23rd of January 2026 for a very special evening to celebrate their outstanding achievements.
“Best wishes Mary from all your friends, committee members, club players, coaches, parents and club supporters.”
