A Laois GAA club got on their bikes for a 24 hour fundraiser over the weekend which proved a huge success.

Clonad GAA were at the Portlaoise Plaza at Junction 17 from 6pm on Friday until 6pm on Saturday last.

Those taking part were pedalling for both club development and green initiatives.

There were also a few famous faces who popped in to say hello including former Waterford and Tipperary hurlers Dan Shanahan and Noel McGrath.

PRO Colin Delaney thanked everyone involved for their efforts over the 24 hours.

He said: “We were delighted that the fundraiser was such a success and all of the funds will be put to good use.

“We would like to thank everyone who took part and everyone who donated.

“We would also like to thank Portlaoise Plaza for allowing us to use their facilities and the Killeshin Hotel for supplying the bikes.

“Clonad hope to make this an annual event and will confirm details on this in the future.”
