There was a wide variety of events held during ‘Bike Week 2025’ across towns and villages in Laois and the across the Country.
The ‘Sunset Cycle’ was held on a glorious May evening, with blossom-filled trees providing a canopy along both sides of the canal.
With nature in full bloom, birds provided a dusk chorus creating the perfect backdrop for the 10-kilometre cycle along the scenic Barrow Line of the Blueway.
Cyclists left Vicarstown and took in the breathtaking view along the Blueway to Fisherstown, on the return to Vicarstown the sunset was spectacular, with a beautiful orange sky.
The guide for the evening cycle was Chris Miller, who enriched the experience by sharing fascinating knowledge about the history of the canal, its iconic bridges, and the local area.
The event not only encouraged physical activity but also highlighted the natural beauty and cultural heritage of the area, a perfect combination to inspire continued engagement in Active Travel.
