Laois County Council has confirmed the first in a series of public advice sessions in relation to the renovating vacant and derelict properties will be held next week.
Portlaoise Library will be the venue from 10am to 4pm with the event focused on supporting property owners interested in improvement works.
This has been organised by the Regeneration Section of Laois County Council in partnership with the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI).
They say that the drop-in sessions will provide essential guidance on property renovation funding as part of the Government’s Town Centre First policy, which aims to revitalise town centres and breathe new life into underused buildings.
Those who attend will be able to learn about available grants and funding & eligibility criterion for the renovation of vacant and derelict properties.
They will also get to speak directly with Laois County Council vacancy and dereliction staff as well as SEAI representatives about your projects.
The eligibility criteria and application process for SEAI-supported schemes will also be explained.
While expert advice on energy upgrades on their property and how to make homes more sustainable will be available.
Town Regeneration Officer, Denise Rainey said: “This is an ideal opportunity for property owners, prospective buyers, developers, and community stakeholders to explore practical supports for bringing buildings back into use.
“This will enhance both the fabric and vitality of local villages and towns across the county.”
Admission is free, and no appointment is necessary.
