‘Let’s have a bit of craic’ – First ever Stradbally Parish Picnic set to take place this Sunday

Stradbally Parish Picnic

The Parish of Stradbally, which includes Timahoe and Vicarstown, is set to come together this Sunday for a picnic.

Fr David Vard is inviting everyone in the community, and even throughout Laois, to come for the first ever Stradbally Parish Picnic.

The event will be hosted at St Colman’s National school and is set to feature games, live performances and the chance to win a big prize.

Fr Vard has a big jar of sweets and the person who correctly guesses how many are in the jar will win either a €1,000 Centre Parcs voucher or two tickets to the sold out 2025 Electric Picnic.

It costs €5 for one guess or €10 for three and you can enter on the day or online with all funds raised going to the parish community.

The action is set to kick off at 2pm on Sunday with bouncing castles, field games, a bake sale and ‘sponge throw at Fr David’ set to take place.

The Lynam School of Irish Dancing and the Buggie School of Irish Dancing will also perform.

The Stradbally Community Choir, fresh from their performance at Kavanagh’s in aid of Kolbe Special School, are set to perform again at 3.15pm.

While the world famous Timahoe Male Choir, who just played to 20,000 people at St Anne’s Park in Dublin, are due on at 4.30pm.

Fr Vard said: “Everyone is very welcome to join us in St Colman’s on Sunday for some community fun.

“Bring your picnic, lets have a bit of craic.”
