Park-Ratheniska hosting family fun day to raise funds ahead of first ever Ladies national Feile appearance

Park-Ratheniska Ladies U-14 Feile

Park-Ratheniska Ladies football club are set to host a family fun day at their grounds in Ratheniska this Sunday.

All funds raised on the day will go towards their Ladies Feile team who are set to head to the National final on June 29.

The team competed in and won the Laois A Féíle at the end of April and were rewarded with a place in the national competition to represent Laois.

Wins over St Brigid’s and Ballyroan saw them advance from the group stages to a meeting with the host side Sarsfields who they duly defeated to qualify for a final against St Brigid’s once more.

In a hugely tense encounter they trailed going into the final minute when a goal saw them emerge two point winners and champions.

This is a huge achievement for them as they are set to become the first team in the ladies club to ever attend a Féile competition.

This Sunday, the club is hosting a Family Fun Day from 12 noon to raise some final funds ahead of the trip and to recognise the achievement.

The day will see ice bucket challenge, hanging tough, long puck contest, top bins challenge, target games and athletics races for all ages taking place.

All games are €2 or you can get three for €5. There will also be a bake sale on the day as well as face painting.

Park-Ratheniska will compete in Division 2 of the Feile and begin against Carryduff of Down.

They will also face Fergus Rovers (Clare), Kildress Wolfe Tones (Tyrone) and Navan O’Mahony’s (Meath) with the best teams advancing to the knock out phase.
