Nothing says championship season like new gear.
And the Timahoe footballers are certainly going to be well kitted out after a generous sponsorship from local publican Jim Ramsbottom, who presented gear to players, management and club officials this week.
Zip tops, training jerseys, shorts and socks were given to all players ahead of their upcoming championship games.
Timahoe play Kilcavan in the opening round of the intermediate football championship on Wednesday, July 23, while their Junior ‘C’ team take on neighbours Ballyroan-Abbey this coming Sunday, July 13.
On Sunday evening last, to the backdrop of live music blared from Ramsbottom’s on a glorious summer evening, Timahoe GAA chairperson John Ramsbottom thanked his namesake Jim for his considerable support.
Incidentally, and somewhat bizarrely, there are a couple of different Ramsbottom clans in Timahoe and they’re not actually related.
“It’s easy to talk but it’s a different thing to put your hand in your pocket and support the club like this,” said John.
“I want to thank Jim very much for his sponsorship. It’s very much appreciated by the players and the club in general.
Also present were intermediate team mentors Malachy McNulty and Liam ‘Sheriff’ Ramsbottom who make up the management team alongside manager Brendan Quigley.
Ramsbottom’s pub is in that particular family for generations with Jim now the latest proprietor. He started working alongside his uncles Mark and Liam in 2001 before later taking it over. Today it’s now something of a rare species: a thriving, vibrant, rural pub, open seven days a week with live music every Sunday evening during the summer.
