Willie (Liam) White
Durrow, Laois

The death has occurred of Willie (Liam) White, Westminster London, formerly of The Square, Durrow, Co Laois.

Willie passed away peacefully at his home in Westminster London. Surrounded by his loving family. He is predeceased by his parents William & Bridget, his wife Mary Donnellan White, Daughter Laura, Siblings Sean J, +Archbishop Thomas A & May White. Deeply regretted by his sorrowing family Sons William, Conor, Daughters Claudia, Natasha and her partner Ross Fitzsimons. Granddaughter Roisin Fitzsimons, and a large circle of friends.

Requiem Mass will take place on Saturday 26th July 2025 at the Holy Trinity Church Durrow, at 11.00 AM followed by interment of ashes in the adjoining cemetery

Robert (Bertie) Gowan
Meelick, Rosenallis, Laois

The death has occurred of Robert (Bertie) Gowan, Meelick, Rosenallis, Portlaoise. Co. Laois. Wednesday July 16th peacefully in the care of the wonderful staff of Emo Court ward, Midlands Regional Hospital Portlaoise surrounded by his loving family.

Predeceased by his sister Muriel.

Bert will be sadly missed and remembered with love by his wife Edna, sister Margaret, sons Maurice (Paula) and Douglas. Grandsons David and Marcus and great grand children Lily, Ollie and Liam, and extended family, neighbours and friends.

A private cremation service at his own request took place last Saturday 19th of July.

Terri Maher (née Barry)
Rockmount, Drimoleague, Cork/Stradbally, Laois

On 22 July 2025 peacefully after an illness bravely borne, surrounded by her loving family at Clonakilty Community Hospital, Terri. Predeceased by her parents John and Mary, sister Stephanie and her beloved son Kenneth who she is now reunited with. Terri will be forever loved and missed by her children Michael, Neil, Ciara, Richard and Emma. Deeply missed by her brother Martin, sister Marion, her fourteen cherished grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, extended family and her dearest friends Michael and Kathleen.

Lying in repose at Daly’s Funeral Home, Chapel Street, Drimoleague on Thursday (24th) from 7pm to 8pm followed by prayers. Requiem Mass on Friday (25th) at 12 noon in All Saints Church, Drimoleague (livestreamed on http://www.churchservices.tv/drimoleague) followed by cremation at The Island Crematorium, Ringaskiddy.

Family flowers only. Donations in lieu if desired to the West Cork Palliative Care c/o Bantry General Hospital.

Terri’s family would like to extend our deepest gratitude to everyone at Bantry General Hospital and Clonakilty Community Hospital with special thanks to all in the Dóchas Unit for the incredible care and compassion shown during a difficult time. To the nurses and staff who provided palliative care, your kindness, professionalism and gentle presence made an immeasurable difference.

Sharon Brennan (née Cosgrove)
Killeshin, Carlow/Tullow, Carlow/Killeshin, Laois

Sharon Brennan (née Cosgrove) of “Lisdale”, Leaugh, Carlow, Co Laois and formerly of Liscolman, Tullow, Co Carlow, passed away unexpectedly, on July 19th, 2025 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Kilkenny.

Beloved wife of Paul, much loved mother of Jack and Evan, adored daughter of John and Mary and cherished sister of Jonathan, Keith, Caroline and Fiona,

She will be sadly missed by her loving husband, sons, parents, brothers, sisters, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, mother-in-law, grandfather, aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins, work colleagues, good neighbours, relatives and friends.

Reposing at Carpenter Bros Funeral Home, Shamrock Sq., Carlow (Eircode R93 C863) on Wednesday (July 23rd) from 2pm concluding with Prayers at 7.30pm that evening. Funeral Mass on Thursday at 4pm in The Holy Cross Church, Killeshin, followed by burial afterwards in Leaugh Cemetery (R93 PV44).

The funeral procession will drive from The Holy Cross Church, Killeshin to Sharon’s home and then walk to Leaugh Cemetery for her burial.

Mary Ellen Bowe (née Spooner)
Bordwell, Ballacolla, Laois

Mary Ellen Bowe (née Spooner), Bordwell, Ballacolla, Co. Laois, July 20th. 2025, peacefully surrounded by her loving family at Midland’s Regional Hospital Portlaoise.
Predeceased by her husband John and parents Catherine and William Spooner.

Sadly missed and remembered with love by her family Seàn, Catherine (Beale), Billy, Mary, Thomas and Helen, sons-in-law Pat, Derek and Robsen, daughters-in-law Margaret and Helen, grandchildren Jack, Luke, Clara, Lily and Kate, sisters Peggy and Ann, brother-in-law Martin, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and a wide circle of friends.

Reposing at her residence (Eircode R32 KR24) on Tuesday July 22nd. from 2 o’clock until 8 o’clock. Removal on Wednesday morning to St. Canice’s Church Clough arriving for Requiem Mass at 11 o’clock. Interment afterwards in Bordwell Cemetery.

James Cassidy
26 Meadow Brook, Rosenallis, Laois

James died peacefully surrounded by his loving family at Beaumont Hospital Dublin.

Forever remembered and cherished by his sisters Vanessa and Rebecca and his brother Nigel, brothers In-law Frank and Colm and sister-in-law Jennifer and his uncle Pat.

Sadly, missed by his nieces and nephews Nakita ,Jordan, Lucy, Alex, Finn, Kai and his gran niece Freya, aunts and uncles, cousins, extended family, and close friends.

James will repose in his home 26 Meadow Brook Rosenallis (R32 FH 74) on Tuesday from 2pm. Recital of The Rosary at 8pm. Removal on Wednesday morning at 11.30am to St.Brigid’s Church arriving for Requiem Mass at 12 noon. Burial after in St.Brigid’s Cemetery. Family time in his home on Wednesday morning.
