2 – Laois SHC: Keyes and Dowling return to inspire Camross to victory over champions Clough-Ballacolla
Camross got back in the running for the Laois Shoppig Centre SHC as their returning stars helped them to topple defending champions Clough-Ballacolla.
After a draw with Portlaoise and defeat to Rosenallis in their first two games, David Cuddy’s men produced a brilliant display and were full value for their win.
3 – 11 acts added to Electric Picnic lineup including Inhaler, Nile Rodgers, The Saw Doctors, The 2 Johnnies and more
With just three weeks to go until Stradbally Estate opens its gates to welcome 80,000 festival goers, Electric Picnic has announced a further 11 acts set to perform across an already stellar festival weekend.
The full list of new acts is Inhaler, David Gray, Nile Rodgers and CHIC, The Cranberries, The Saw Doctors, Jazzy, The Coronas, The 2 Johnnies, Mark McCabe and the I’m Grand Mam podcast.
4 – In Pictures: Cafe Late Opening Grant Initiative well received as local band and DJ perform
Two cafés on Main Street Portlaoise – Square Coffee and LemonNick Café – availed of Laois County Council’s ‘Café Late Opening Grant Initiative’ and opened their doors until late recently.
The Square Coffee hosted local band Byro with The Coffee House Session. The band packed the café, as well as the street outside.
5 – Two young Laois lads to shave off their mullets during cancer charity event
Two local ten-year-olds are gearing up to sacrifice their distinctive mullet hairstyles next week to raise funds for the Irish Cancer Society Relay for Life Laois.
Ten-year-olds Páidí Ryan and Martin Kelly are fourth-class pupils at Emo National School who have proudly worn their mullets for over two years and are well-recognised around their local community for their unique look.

Laois camogie joint-manager Pat Collier has issued a rallying cry to the people of the county to get out and support the team on Sunday.
Laois head to Croke Park on Sunday where they will face Armagh in the All-Ireland Premier Junior final at 1pm.

Laois’s All Ireland dream died in Croke Park this afternoon as their heroically brave effort wasn’t enough to deny Tyrone.
Taking part in their second final in this intermediate ladies football grade in four years, Laois lived off meagre enough possession for long spells but were still hanging in as the game entered the last couple of minutes.
9 – Laois ‘missing a trick’ by not ‘tapping into the booming market for motorhome and campervan visitors’
A local County Councillor has said that Laois is “missing a trick” when it comes to “tapping into the booming market for motorhome and campervan visitors.”
Speaking at the July meeting of Laois County Council last week, Labour Councillor Marie Tuohy said Laois remains “one of the few counties in the country without a motorhome or campervan camping facility.”
10 – Laois SHC: Rosenallis have it all their own way in big win over Castletown
Rosenallis picked up two more valuable points in the Laois Shopping Centre SHC after a brilliant first-half performance laid the foundations for a 13-point win over Castletown in O’Moore Park last weekend.
John O’Loughlin’s side had stunned Camross in Round 2 and they backed it up here with another commanding performance.
