Laois County Council have announced a €550,000 upgrade of cycle and walking tracks in Durrow.

This work will be carried out in partnership with Pedal Vintage Durrow Community Bike Hire Scheme.

The works will upgrade various, existing, walking trails, to make them suitable for leisure cyclists and vulnerable users.

They say that the project will deliver an enhanced visitor experience, enhanced safety and greater diversity in terms of those enabled to use these popular trails.

The focus of the development is towards the Dunmore and Capponellan Trails, both just outside of Durrow, enhancing up to 10km of trails.

The project is funded through the Department of Rural and Community Development’s Outdoor Recreation and Infrastructure Fund with match funding provided by Laois County Council.

Laois County Council is delivering the project on behalf of the Grantee, Pedal Vintage Durrow Community Bike Hire Scheme.

Alf Harvey was present at the launch and captured some great images.
