Laois footballer nominated for Ladies Golden Glove award once again

Laois goalkeeper Eimear Barry has been nominated for the Ladies football Golden Glove award once again.

The Shanahoe net minder won this in 2022 and her performances this year have seen her nominated again.

The ZuCar Golden Glove will be presented to the goalkeeper who wins the popular vote at the Ladies Gaelic Football Association’s website page.

Donegal’s Clare Friel, Galway’s Dearbhla Gower, Meath’s Robyn Murray and Roscommon’s Helena Cummins are the four other goalkeepers in with a chance of claiming the award from ZuCar, the LGFA’s Performance Partner, and sponsors of the ZuCar All-Ireland U-18 Championships.

The ZuCar Golden Glove award was introduced in 2021 to acknowledge goalkeeping excellence during the TG4 All-Ireland Championships.

Longford’s Riane McGrath was the inaugural recipient, Laois goalkeeper Eimear Barry won the award in 2022, Dublin’s Abby Shiels was the 2023 winner and Kerry’s Ciara Butler claimed the 2024 award.

Voting is now open to crown the 2025 winner and Option A is a brilliant penalty save from Laois goalkeeper Eimear Barry from Tyrone’s Sorcha Gormley in the TG4 All-Ireland Intermediate Final.

Option B is a superb tip-over save from Meath goalkeeper Robyn Murray in the TG4 All-Ireland Senior Final, as Dublin’s Kate Sullivan threatened the Royal County goal.

Option C features Roscommon goalkeeper Helena Cummins, and her heroics with a wonderful save down to her right hand side to keep out a goal-bound shot from Fermanagh’s Joanne Doonan in the TG4 All-Ireland Intermediate Championship group stages.

Option D is a point-blank save from Galway goalkeeper Dearbhla Gower to deny Waterford’s Hannah Power in the TG4 All-Ireland Senior Championship quarter-final.

And Option E is another penalty save, and a crucial one from goalkeeper Clare Friel to help Donegal preserve their TG4 All-Ireland Senior Championship status in the relegation play-off against Leitrim.

The winning goalkeeper will be presented with the 2025 ZuCar Golden Glove award – and voting will close at 5pm on Wednesday August 27.

The winner of the 2025 ZuCar Golden Boot is Dublin star Hannah Tyrrell, who finished as leading scorer in the 2025 TG4 All-Ireland Championships, with a haul of 6-28 (46 points) for the All-Ireland Senior Championship winners.

Hannah will be presented with her award, along with the Golden Glove winner, early next month.
