This morning brought scenes of joy and pride at St Mary’s CBS Portlaoise as 130 students received their Leaving Certificate results.
Smiles and excitement filled the school as the hard work of the Class of 2025 was rewarded.
The school are especially proud of Cathal Ging from The Rock, who achieved an outstanding 625 points.
Many more students earned over 500 points, with a large number also achieving strong results in the high 400s – a testament to their dedication and resilience.
The ambitions of this talented group are as diverse as they are inspiring.
Among the future pathways chosen are medicine, law, teaching, marine biology, engineering, computer science, business, construction management, tailoring, carpentry, and mechanics.
Principal Ms Maura Murphy commented: “We are truly delighted with the Leaving Certificate results of our students.
“Despite a year of grade deflation, their achievements are a testament to their hard work and commitment.
“It was wonderful to see so many of them return to the school this morning to meet old classmates, share their joy and plans for the future, and express their appreciation for their teachers.”
Year Head Mr Conor Ryan added: “I am immensely proud of all the students who sat their exams this year.
“They showed great determination throughout their studies, and I wish each of them every success in their future endeavours.”
A spokesperson for Portlaoise CBS added: “This was a gifted and hardworking year group, and we could not be prouder of their achievements.
“They are a credit to their families, their teachers, and to our school community.
“While they will be greatly missed in our corridors, we look forward with excitement to seeing all that they will accomplish in the years ahead.”
