In Pictures: Excellent results and happy faces as Portlaoise College celebrate Leaving Cert 2025

The tradition of gathering with friends, parents and teachers continues unabated, despite results being available online, as students came together at Portlaoise College to celebrate their Leaving Certificate results.

The occasion once again reflected the strong sense of community within the school.

This year’s results continued the positive trend of recent years, with many students achieving over 550 points.

From 11am on Friday, students began arriving at the school, where the Guidance Department was on hand to offer support.

Principal Noel Daly said: “The staff and management of Portlaoise College warmly congratulate our students on their results.

“Results day reflects the commitment and effort of students and staff, supported throughout by families.

“When you see the smiles and delight on parents’ and students’ faces, it makes all the hard work of students and school staff worthwhile.”

As students gathered to enjoy refreshments, Mr Daly added that the day marks an important milestone as students prepare for their next steps.

There were some outstanding results, with Nathan Dewing achieving over 600 points.

Nathan and Kayla Daly were the Parents’ Council Bursary winners; Nathan plans to study Physics at Trinity College, while Kayla will begin Veterinary Medicine.

The inaugural Mary McAleese Ozanam Scholarship winner, Scott Duffy, also scored over 600 points and plans to study Physics in UCD.

LCA students also performed strongly, with most achieving distinctions.

The prevailing feeling among students was one of pride in their achievements, as they now look ahead to higher education, apprenticeships or further education.

“Whatever paths they choose, the doors of Portlaoise College will always remain open to them,” Mr Daly said.
