Portlaoise Institute proudly celebrated the achievements of its students recently, hosting two graduation ceremonies at the Killeshin Hotel.
The dual events were held to accommodate the record number of over 500 students who completed their studies during the last academic year.
At the first ceremony, graduates were inspired by guest speaker Padraig Amond, a current League of Ireland soccer player with an extensive professional career abroad.
Padraig encouraged students to take the next step in their lives with confidence, highlighting the value of resilience, teamwork, and commitment in achieving success.
The second ceremony welcomed Caoimhe Foynes, entrepreneur and owner of CF Beauty in Clonaslee.
Caoimhe spoke candidly about her career journey, sharing insights on innovation, determination, and the importance of seizing opportunities.
Representing the Laois and Offaly Education and Training Board (LOETB) were Michelle Shanahan and Emma Gilchrest, who congratulated graduates and commended the Institute’s role in expanding educational opportunities across the region.
Principal Keith McClearn addressed both ceremonies, praising the graduates for their dedication and resilience.
He said: “This year’s record numbers are a testament not only to the hard work of our students, but also to the commitment of our staff and the trust placed in us by families and the community.
“Our graduates leave us ready to make meaningful contributions in their chosen fields, and we are immensely proud of all they have achieved.”
