Laois hurlers claim the bronze medal at inter-county golf competition

The Iar-Iománaithe na hÉireann, the Inter County Hurlers Golfing Society, held their third Outing of the year recently with big Laois success.

The competition is affectionately known as the “Team Inter-County Event” and it took place the picturesque Thurles Golf Club.

It proved to be a memorable day it was for the Laois representatives who claimed third spot, placing their team among the top performers in a challenging event – a great achievement.

Limerick emerged winners with Galway in the runners up spot.

The lads all played extremely well, showing great skill, in particular Fint Scully, who shot the best round of the day, a magnificent 44 points.

Other members of the team included, Timmy Williams, Tommy Moore, Brochan Reilly, John Taylor, Richie Moloney, Gerry Kavanagh, Peter Bergin and Alex Stenson.

It was a perfect warm up for the lads who will be in action next month in Laois.

On the local scene, the Laois Hurlers Golf Society take on the challenge of the Heath Golf Club on Saturday October 4 in their final Outing of the year.
