Laois man recognised with top European recruitment award for second year running

Laois man Colin Donnery, Group CEO of FRS Co-Op, has received a top European recruitment honour for the second year running.

This is after the Coolrain native has been named in the Staffing 100 Europe once again.

This list is a record of the European business leaders whose significant accomplishments and vision are shaping the world of work.

The Laois man is one of just six Irish business leaders that have been named on the prestigious list, which is awarded by Staffing Industry Analysts (SIA) – the global research and advisory firm focused on staffing and workforce solutions.

Colin has worked with FRS Co-Op for 21 years and is now in his fifth year as Group CEO of the company.

Before then he was General Manager of FRS Recruitment, one of Ireland’s leading recruitment agencies with ten offices across the country, including in Portlaoise.

In his career to date, Colin has played a key role in a number of FRS Co-Op divisions, including recruiting, government outsourcing, employability and training.

He also advises organisations on talent management and attraction strategies, employer engagement and branding.

Earlier this year, Colin was awarded 2025 sustainability leader of the year in the Irish National Dairy Awards for his work in delivering environmental labour outsourcing programmes for the government.

Under his leadership, FRS Recruitment and FRS Co-Op have expanded recruitment services across Ireland and internationally, advanced employability and training programmes for jobseekers, and delivered government outsourcing solutions.

He originally joined FRS in 2004 and was also the co-founder of Turas Nua, who manage the JobPath programme which has helped more than 60,000 people secure employment.

Living with his family in Coolrain, Mr Donnery is also former President of the National Recruitment Federation, where he was awarded an honorary fellowship in 2015 for services to the industry.

He has previously served as a non-executive director with Macra na Feirme.

Speaking about the award, Mr Donnery said: “It is a great honour to be named on this list next to some of the major names in staffing and recruitment right across Europe.

“This recognition is a reflection of the hard work done by all staff across FRS Recruitment.

“The core mission in this business is to connect people and opportunities while supporting both employers and candidates, and I’m proud to see that FRS Recruitment remains at the forefront of staffing and workforce innovation in Ireland.”
