Dan Kearns
Corrig, Stradbally, Laois

The death has occurred of Dan Kearns, Corrig, Stradbally, Co. Laois, peacefully at his home on the 25th September 2025 surrounded by his beloved wife and family.

Dan will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Margaret, daughter Ciara, son Damien, his adored grandchild Bobby, son-in-law John Paul, sister Breda, brother Pat, sister-in-law Rita, brother-in-law Tom, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and his many friends.

Reposing at his home on Saturday 27th September from 12 noon with Recital of the Rosary at 8pm. Funeral Mass will take place on Sunday 28th September in the Sacred Heart Church, Stradbally at 11:30am and afterwards Dan will be laid to rest in Oakvale Cemetery.

Mary Slattery (née Bowe)
Main Street, Drangan Village, Tipperary/Portlaoise, Laois

Mary Slattery Née Bowe Main Street, Drangan, Co. Tipperary September 24th 2025 peacefully surrounded by her loving family and in the outstanding care of all the staff in South Tipperary General Hospital Clonmel. Predeceased by her mother Elsie, father Mick and sister Phyllis. Deeply regretted by her loving husband Anthony, daughter Dawn, son Mark,son-in-law Adrian, daughter-in-law Jean, granddaughter Sophie, sisters Paula and Anne brothers Sean, Pj and Michael brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and a wide circle of friends.

Reposing in Brett’s Funeral Home, Mullinahone (E41EV78) on Saturday September 27th from 5pm – 8pm. Requiem mass on Sunday September 28th at 11 am in The Church Of The Immaculate Conception, Drangan followed by burial afterwards in the adjoining Cemetery.

Kenneth (Ken) Metcalfe
Derryguile, Mountmellick, Laois

Kenneth (Ken) Metcalfe, Derryguile, Mountmellick, Co.Laois. 25th September 2025 passed peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family, after a long illness bravely and courageously borne.

Deeply regretted by his heartbroken wife Betty, loving children Zara, Gayle and Wayne, daughter-in-law Aoife and son-in-law Keith, adored grandchildren Darcey, Fiadh and Kenna. Predeceased by his beloved brother Ivan, sadly missed by his brother Sandy, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and neighbours.

Our grateful thanks to the staff of St James’ Oncology Department and the Midlands Regional Hospital Portlaoise, Eilish (Palliative Care), Madeleine (Community Nurse) and Aoife (Podiatrist) for their tender care of Ken.

Funeral Service at St. Paul’s Church, Mountmellick (R32 FC80) at 2 PM on Saturday 27th of September, with burial afterwards in adjoining cemetery.

Eileen Kennedy (née Lalor)
Timogue, Stradbally, Laois

The death has occurred of Eileen Kennedy (née Lalor), Timogue, Stradbally, Co. Laois peacefully on the 23rd September 2025 at the Midlands Regional Hospital, Portlaoise surrounded by her loving family. Predeceased by her daughter Joan, brother Tom, sisters Elizabeth and Miriam.

Eileen will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her loving husband Joe, sons David, Christopher, Kevin, Kenneth and Ivan, daughters Sylvia and Gloria, grandchildren Joanne, Jordan, Sasha, Blake, Amy and Ethan, great-grandchildren Casey and Finn, sister Peggy, brother Ned and P. J, partners Tina, Josephine and Paul, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at the Presentation Chapel, Stradbally on Friday 26th September 2025, from 12pm with removal to St. Patrick’s Church of Ireland, Stradbally for 2pm service and afterwards Eileen will be laid to rest in Timogue Churchyard.

John Farrell
Late of ‘Skehena House’, Ballylinan, Laois/Athy, Kildare

Late of ‘Skehena House’, Ballylinan, Co. Laois and ‘Brenfield’, Russellstown, Athy, Co. Kildare.

John died peacefully, in the excellent care of all the staff in Naas General Hospital, after a long illness bravely bourne with courage and dignity.

Predeceased by his parents John and Sarah Mary (May) Farrell and siblings Joan and Stan, RIP.

Beloved husband to Carmel, much loved Dad to Evan, David and Emlyn and Grandad John to Max and Tess. Deeply regretted by his brothers Peter, Martin, Christopher and Frank and his sisters Mary and Ann. John will be fondly remembered by his brother-in-law Ciaran, sisters-in-law Brenda, Olive and Mary, daughters-in-law Daryle and Sarah, his nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

Reposing at Rigney’s Funeral Home, Athy (R14 TX26) on Friday evening (September 26th) from 6pm until the conclusion of prayers at 8pm. Removal from his residence at 10.30am on Saturday morning (September 27th) to arrive at St. Michael’s Parish Church, Athy for Requiem Mass at 11am, see livestream link http://www.parishofathy.ie. Cremation service will follow at 2pm in Newlands Cross Crematorium.

John Dollard
Bunlacken, Cullohill, Laois

John Dollard, Bunlacken, Cullohill, Co. Laois. John passed away 24th September 2025, peacefully in St. James’s Hospital Dublin, surrounded by his loving family.

Deeply regretted by his loving wife Mary, son Martin, daughter-in-law Geraldine, brother Joe, sister-in-law, nephew, grand nieces, relatives, neighbours and a large circle of friends.

John will repose in St. Tighearnach’s Church Cullohill (R32EV76) on Friday 26th September from 4pm pausing for prayers at 8pm. John’s funeral cortège will arrive in St. Tighearnach’s Church on Saturday 27th September for funeral Mass at 11am, followed by burial in Durrow cemetery (R32CK11).

Formerly of Timahoe, Co. Laois. Peacefully, in the loving care of Tallaght University Hospital. Deeply regretted by his loving wife Marjorie, son Seán and his partner LaToya, daughter Catherine, grandchildren Jack, Sophia, Cian and Sam, relatives and friends.

Reposing at his daughter Catherine’s residence, 4 Ashville, Athy (R14 X998) on Thursday afternoon (September 25th) from 4pm until the conclusion of the Rosary at 8pm. Removal at 1.30pm on Friday afternoon (September 26th) to arrive at St. Michael’s Parish Church, Athy for Requiem Mass at 2pm, see livestream link http://www.parishofathy.ie. Burial afterwards in Michael’s New Cemetery, Athy.

Formerly of 6 Doonane Terrace, Crettyard, Co. Laois. Predeceased by his parents Margaret and William, brother George, sister Patty, nephew Shane and grand-nephew Baby Shane. Deeply regretted by his loving wife Helen, son Joseph, daughter Margaret, brothers Jimmy, Liam and John, sisters Nano, Peggy, Teresa, Maura, Bernadette and Claire, daughter-in-law Kathleen, Margaret’s partner Kevin, grandchildren Jake and Kyle, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Reposing at his daughter Margaret’s residence, Ballylinan (R14 AE33) on Wednesday evening (September 24th) from 6pm until 9pm and on Thursday from 6pm until the conclusion of the Rosary at 9pm. Removal on Friday morning (September 26th) to arrive at St. Anne’s Church, Ballylinan for Requiem Mass at 11am. Burial afterwards in Balylinan Cemetery.
