George Holland Derrycanton, Mountrath died October 12th after a long illness bravely borne in the exceptional care of the staff at Tallaght University Hospital Dublin.

Beloved son of the late George and Mary.

Deeply regretted by his loving brothers and sisters Jim, John, Mary Parkinson, Sadie Farrell and Michael, nieces, nephews, brothers/in-law Michael and Denis, sisters-in-law Mary Jo, Elizabeth, and Marie, neighbours, relatives and his many friends.

Reposing in Moloney’s Funeral Home Mountmellick on Tuesday from 6.30pm. Recital of The Rosary at 8pm. Funeral arriving St.Edmund’s Church Castletown on Wednesday for Requiem Mass at 2pm. Burial after in St.Fintans Cemetery Mountrath.

Donations if desired to Laois Hospice.

Timothy Gleeson. Ballytegan Portlaoise and formerly Ballygraigue Nenagh, Co. Tipperary. 12th Oct 2025 Peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband of Anne and dearly loved father to Laura. Deeply regretted by his loving family. Brother, sisters. Nephews, nieces, relatives and former members of An Garda. Full arrangements will be announced at 2 pm on Monday.

William (Willie) Donoghue

William (Willie) Donoghue. Pleasant Place, Harper’s Lane Portlaoise Co. Laois and formerly Monasterevin Co. Kildare. Deeply regretted by his father Liam, mother Rose, loving sons Kyle Dante and Riley, brothers Daniel and Richard, extended family, relatives and friends.

Reposing at his residence (R32 NWK7) on Wednesday 15th of October from 5pm till 8pm with prayers at 7 pm. Funeral will arrive at SS Peter and Paul Church Monasterevin on Thursday For 11am requiem mass, followed by interment in Saint Evans Cemetery Monasterevin.

Tony Tynan
Boston and Late of Springfield, Killenard, Portarlington, Laois

Tony passed away on the 23rd September 2025. Predeceased by his dear father John. Sadly missed by his loving wife Lisa, daughter Ciara and her partner Spencer, dear mother Phil, brother Ger, sister Teresa and her husband Charlie, uncle Seamus and his wife May, niece Karen, nephew Cathal, relatives and many friends.

Memorial Mass in St John’s Church, Killenard (eircode R32 VW77) on Wednesday 15th October at 12 noon. Interment of Ashes afterwards in the adjoining Cemetery.

Bernard (Benny) Phelan
Mountrath, Laois/Portarlington, Laois

Bernard Phelan, better known Benny, formerly of Mountrath and in recent years Portarlington, Co Laois. Benny passed away peacefully on the 12th October 2025, surrounded by his loving family, and in the gentle care of staff at Droimnín Nursing Home Stradbally. Predeceased by his mother Martha, and father Richard.

Deeply loved and forever remembered by his devoted sister Maura, brothers Richie, Patrick and John, the rest of his immediate family, extended family, and all who knew and cared for him throughout his life, both near and far.

Benny will be fondly remembered for his big heart, love of music, and his lively spirit. He had a song for every occasion and a smile that could light up any room. His laughter, stories, and love of life will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Reposing at Burke’s Funeral Home Mountrath on Monday evening 13th October from 6.0’clock with Rosary at 8.0’clock. Removal on Tuesday morning 14th October to St. Fintan’s Church Mountrath eircode R32X338, for Requiem Mass at 10.0’clock, followed by Burial in St. Fintan’s Cemetery Mountrath.

Mary Kelly (née Bergin) , 5 St. Fintan’s Terrace , Durrow, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family in St. James’s Hospital, Dublin, on her birthday 11th October.

Predeceased by her father Tom. Deeply cherished by her family, loving husband Paul, children Mark, Aisling, Paul and David, their partners, her mother Mary, siblings Liam, Paul and Seán, her grandchildren, nieces, nephews , relatives, neighbours, friends and past colleagues in An Post,

The family would like to sincerely thank the staff of Portlaoise Regional Hospital and St. James’s Hospital for their care and compassion towards Mary.

Reposing at her residence on Sunday, 12th October from 2pm pausing for prayers at 7.45pm. Removal on Monday, 13th October to Holy Trinity Church Durrow, for 2pm Funeral Mass followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Dermot Dorgan, Post Master, Attanagh post office, Attanagh, Co. Laois. Dermot aged 92 , died peacefully, on Saturday 11th October, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.

Predeceased by his brothers Liam, Micheál and his sister Sheila(Fitzpatrick). Deeply regretted by his loving wife Mary, son John, daughter Julie, brother Noel(London), nieces, nephews, relatives, good neighbours and friends.

Dermot’s funeral will arrive in the Church of the Assumption Ballyouskill, on Tuesday 14th October, for 12noon requiem Mass , followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Robert Stocks Coolrain, Mountrath and 20 Royal Canal Avenue Longford and originally Sterling ,Scotland.

Avid supporter of Falkirk Football Club and Longterm supporter of PATS Therapy with his Irish Therapy Dog Lady. Survived by his daughter Lynsey, brother and sister relatives and friends.

Seamus passed away suddenly on the 10th October 2025. Predeceased by his mother Joan and father Vincent.

Sadly, missed by his sister Rosanna, brothers Noel and Aidan, nephews, nieces, brother-in-law Michael (O’Connor), sister-in-law Pauline, extended family, relatives, former residence of Erkina House Rathdowney and Monresa House Portlaoise, neighbours and friends.

P.J (Patrick) Doogue, 29 Brownshill Rise, Brownshill Road, Carlow and formerly Ballintubbert, Co Laois, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on October 9th, 2025, at Beaumont Hospital, Dublin.

Beloved husband of Anne, much loved father of Nicole and Matty, adored grandfather of Isla, treasured step-father of Antoinette, Avril, Anna and Burtram, cherished brother of Derek, Angela. Kieran and Ian and dear son of Paddy and the late Teresa.

He will be sadly missed by his loving son, daughter, father, grandchild, step-grandchildren, brothers, sister, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, uncle, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

Christine Leahy (nee Carroll) Clonkeen Portlaoise . October 9th 2025. Peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family. Dearly loved wife of Michael and loving and cherished mother to Adam and Aodha.

Daughter of the late Tom and Frances Carroll. Deeply regretted by her loving family. Sisters Maria and Fiona, brothers Dermot, Aidan and Fergal, brothers-in-law, sisters-in law, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at Keegans Funeral Home on Monday evening from 6.30 pm until 8 pm with rosary at 7.30pm. Funeral will arrive at SS Peter and Paul’s Church for 11 am requiem mass on Tuesday. Cremation will follow in Newlands Crematorium. House private please.

Brendan McManus
Lough Cottage, Portarlington, Laois, R32 N8X9/Lucan, Dublin

Brendan passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family.

Greatly missed by his loving wife and best friend Geraldine, his sons Seán, Ciarán and Aidan, daughter inlaws Gemma, Avril, grandchildren Lily, Emily, Eála, sister Mary and brother Aidan, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Brendan will be reposing at his residence on Saturday from 4pm to 8pm concluding with recital of the Rosary.

Removal on Monday morning by Whelehan Funeral Directors at 11:15am to arrive to Saint Johns Church Killenard for 12 noon Requiem Mass. Interment to follow in adjoining cemetery.
