There was a lovely event in Knockbeg College last Friday as of the school’s greatest sporting achievements was recognised.
On the Monday of the May Bank Holiday weekend 20 years ago, Knockbeg College claimed All-Ireland Senior football championship glory.
Their victory over St Mary’s of Galway in Thurles in 2005 brought the Hogan Cup to the Laois school for the first, and still only, time.
Goals from Donie Brennan and Sean Ramsbottom, as well as a last gasp stunning save from Colm Munnelly, did the trick for Knockbeg on the day.
Earlier this year, we travelled over the Knockbeg and interviewed manager Chris Conway about his memories of the day.
On Friday, Knockbeg College, in conjunction with the Past Pupils Union, held a reunion.
Chris Conway was joined by fellow coach John Rouse along with players, their families and everyone who played a role in the incredible win.
The evening began with a ceremony and then each player present was presented with a commemorative photo.
Paul Dargan was present on Friday evening and captured some great images.
