Lorraine Cody of Annanough GAA has been chosen as the 2025 winner in the Leinster GAA Beko Club Champion awards.
Lorraine received her award from Beko Ireland marketing manager Shane O’Connor during the Leinster GAA Club finals at Croke Park in Dublin.
The Annanough GAA clubwoman was nominated for the award which celebrates local GAA club heroes who go above and beyond to help their local community.
Annanough GAA will also receive €1,000 worth of GAA equipment courtesy of Beko.
The Beko Club Champion accolade rewards and celebrates the incredible, often unheralded volunteer work carried out by clubs and club members.
Chairman Cyrill Darcy paid tribute to the tireless work that Lorraine does.
He said: “Annanough GAA proudly commends Lorraine Coady for her outstanding contributions to our club.
“Her dedication to integrating health and safety has inspired the community to reflect on their own wellness and wellbeing.
“Lorraine spearheaded heart screening within the club by partnering with the Dillon Quirke Foundation.
“She also organized water safety workshops with the RNLI, drug awareness talks for parents and created information walls with walking and running plans.
“These initiatives have transformed the club into a hub of knowledge, reflection, and community connection, all while prioritizing the safety and wellbeing of our members.
“Her efforts to promote mental health awareness further demonstrate her commitment to making the club a place of support and openness, particularly for teenagers and parents.
“Lorraine has also been instrumental in encouraging healthy eating and providing opportunities for exercise, not just for players but for all members.
“She helped establish the ‘Sunday Club’ for 12–17-year-olds, offering a fun, non-competitive, and self-led environment involving sport.
“She has also been a driving force behind spinning classes and ladies-only gym sessions, creating a socially inclusive culture within the club.
“Lorraine’s above and beyond work has led to Annanough achieving the Silver Healthy Club status in 2025.”
