Clough-Ballacolla are Laois senior hurling champions once again after they defeated Camross in a pulsating final in O’Moore Park.

It is a fifth title in six years for the champions who claimed their eighth of all time following a six point win.

Camross came into the game as slight favourites after beating Clough-Ballacolla in the group phase but the victors built up a lead while playing against the wind in the first half and held onto it well.

In the end, they were able to summon their tallisman Stephen Maher from the bench, five months after he damaged his cruciate knee ligament, and he hit two points to help them over the line.

Clough-Ballacolla set up with a sweeper from the start, with Diarmaid Conway primarily playing the extra man. It worked a treat.

They won all but one of their own puckouts and pilfered a few from Camross too.

Stephen Bergin was man of the match as he finished with 1-13 while there were great performances throughout the field including Cillian Dunne and Aidan Corby.

Photographer Paul Dargan was present in O’Moore Park and captured some great images.
