The death has occurred of the John Joseph Dowling, Trumera, Mountrath, Co. Laois, on Sunday 8th February 2026, at his home after a short illness bravely borne. Predeceased by all his family.

Beloved husband of Mary and father to Deirdre, Michael and Caroline. Sadly, missed by his loving family, son-in-law Tom (Dunlea), cousins, nephews, nieces, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at Burke’s Funeral Home Mountrath (eircode R32Y661) on Monday evening 9th February from 6.0’clock, concluding with Rosary at 8.0’clock. Requiem Mass on Tuesday morning 10th February in St. Fintan’s Church Mountrath (eircode R32X338) at 10.0’clock, followed by Burial in the St. Fintan’s Cemetery Mountrath.

Hazel Greene (née Stanley)
Coolroe, Roscrea, Tipperary/Offaly/Timahoe, Laois

Hazel Greene (nee Stanley), Coolroe, Roscrea, Co. Tipperary and formerly of Fallowbeg, Timahoe, Co. Laois. Died February 7th 2026, peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family and friends.

Predeceased by her parents, Arthur and Ann, her brother David, and her daughter Sandra.

Sadly missed by her loving husband Tommy, her loving children Gary, Stuart, Stephen, Alison, Clive, Roy, Damien and Jason, her brother Leslie, and her sisters Olive, Mabel and Joan, her daughters-in-law Mary, Elaine, Caitrin, Niamh and Laura, and her grandchildren Tom, Dara, Thadí, Oisín, Ross, Lily, Isla and Anna. Also, her brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Reposing in Doyle’s Funeral Home, Roscrea E53 RX08 on Monday 9th February from 4pm to 7pm.

Arriving at St Cronan’s Church of Ireland Church on Tuesday for funeral service at 1pm.

Burial afterwards in Dungar Cemetery.

Frances (Frankie) McEvoy (née Larkin)
Main Street, Stradbally, Laois

The death has occurred of Frances, better known as Frankie McEvoy (née Larkin), Main Street, Stradbally, Co. Laois, peacefully at her son Michael and Ita’s residence. Predeceased by her husband Michael, grandson Michael and great grandson baby JJ.

Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her sons Michael, J.J and Canon Frank, daughter Miriam (Hyland), grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sister-in-law, daughters-in-law Ita and Catherine, son-in-law Padraig, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and her many friends.

Reposing at the Presentation Chapel, Stradbally on Monday 9th February at 6pm until 8pm. Recital of the Rosary at 8pm. Requiem Mass on Tuesday 10th February in the Sacred Heart Church, Stradbally at 12:30pm and afterwards Frankie will be laid to rest in Oakvale Cemetery, Stradbally.

James (Jim) Foy
Barbaha, Carrigatoher, Nenagh, Tipperary Rosenallis, Laois

It is with deep regret that we announce the death of James (Jim) Foy, Barbaha, Carrigatoher, Nenagh, Co. Tipperary, formerly of Rosenallis, Co. Laois and late of Burton-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England, who died peacefully, at Milford Care Centre, surrounded by his loving family, on 6th February 2026.

Jim will be sadly missed by his beloved wife Mary (nee Kennedy), children Marco, Patricia and Elaine, his adored grandchildren Paul, Joanne, Rebecca, James and Joseph and his great-grandchildren Mia, Maisie, Isla, Rose, Jack, Sharley, Bobby and Ari, his brothers Hilly, Tim, Phon and Amby and his sister Peggy, son-in-law Martin, sisters-in-law Pauline, Sheila, Miriam, Betty, Nancy and Margaret, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Predeceased by his parents James and Catherine Foy and his brothers Michael and Patrick.

Reposing on Monday February 9th, at Ryan’s Funeral Home Nenagh (E45 KN93), from 5.30pm until 7pm. Funeral arriving on Tuesday, to The Church of the Immaculate Conception Ballywilliam (E45 D993), for Funeral Mass at 11am, followed by burial in Burgess Cemetery. It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of Marcello Pinna late of Portlaoise, Co. Laois & formerly of Frosinone, Italy.

Marcello passed suddenly and unexpectedly on 30th January 2026

Beloved father to Claudia, Matteo, Jennifer and Luca, dear friend of Patricia (mother of Claudia), sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his daughters, sons, sister Tina and brother Nino, brother-in-law Umberto, nephews and nieces, grandchildren Nora and Tobias and his close friends Andries, Sharon and family.

A ceremony of celebration of Marcello’s life will take place in Shannon Crematorium, Illaunmanagh, Shannon, Co. Clare V14 PV30 on Saturday 14th of February at 2:00pm

Peacefully at home in the loving care of his daughter Anne. Hugh was in his 94th year .Beloved husband of the late Mary (nee Barnes) and devoted father of Bernadette (McDermott), Marie (O’Connor), Anne (McGlynn) and Hugh (jnr). Sadly missed by his loving family, sons-in-law Michael, Seamus and John, daughter-in-law Carol (Maloney), grandchildren Eoin and his wife Aoife, Kevin, Lorna and her husband Nìall, Ciàra and her husband Padraig, Sean and his wife Danielle, Àine and her husband Peter and Órla and her partner Padraig, his adored great-grandchildren Rìan, Rùadh, Èanna, Donagh, Darragh, Finn and Grace. brother-in-law ,sisters-in-law ,nieces ,nephews, relatives, neighbours friends and his many cousins in America.

Reposing at Mahers Chapel of Rest Portarlington (eircode R32 X5XV) on Monday evening from 6pm with Rosary at 8pm. Removal from his residence on Tuesday morning at 10:20am arriving St John’s Church Killenard for Requiem Mass at 11am. Interment afterwards in the adjoining Cemetery.

Formerly of Portarlington County Offaly and Naas County Kildare.

Peacefully at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Loving husband and best friend of Lesley and beloved Dad of Robert, Laura, Sheila and Stephanie.

Sadly missed by his cherished grandchildren Leah, Ryan, Joe, Adam, James, Ella, Brandon, Lucia, Mia and Sophia, daughter-in-law Louise and son-in-law Keith.

Predeceased by his sister Breda and brothers Patrick, Tomàs and Andrew.

Deeply regretted by his sisters Ailish and Martina, brothers Mairtìn and Micheàl, all of his extended family and large circle of friends.

Removal on Monday morning 9th February at 10:30am arriving St John’s Church Killenard (eircode R32 VW77) for Requiem Mass at 11am. Interment afterwards in the adjoining Cemetery.

John (Johnny) Dunphy
Knockanoran, Durrow, Laois

Johnny passed away peacefully while under the care of Midlands Regional Hospital, Tullamore following a short illness bravely borne.

He is predeceased by his parents Bernard (Barney) and Kathleen (Katie) and also by his siblings Margaret, Catherine and Eugene who passed away in infancy.

Johnny is deeply regretted and will be sadly missed by his children Louise, Edel, Niamh and Bernard and their mother Kitty, his sisters Pauline, Marie and Ann and his brother Michael, his ten cherished grandchildren Joseph, Aidan, Rachel, Emma, Hannah, Grace, Max, Jessica, Henry and James, his brothers in law, sisters in law, sons in law Michael and Brian, his daughter in law Patrycja, extended family, neighbours and a wide circle of friends.

Requiem Mass will be on Monday 9th February 2026 at 11am in the Church of the Holy Trinity, Durrow, Co. Laois (R32 CK11) with burial immediately afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Shiela Bennett (née Gorman)
Campclone, Ballyfin, Laois

Sheila Bennett, Campclone, Ballyfin, Co. Laois, 5th of February 2026, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her devoted family.

Predeceased by her husband, William, her infant son, also William, her sister Mary-Kate and her brothers, Michael and Thady.

Sheila will be sadly missed by her children, Margaret, Joe, Anne Marie, Síle, Sarah, Mary and her cherished grandchildren, William, Emma, Daniel B, Christine, Matthew, Colin, Daniel W, Adam, Julieann, Sophie, Anna, daughter-in-law, Bernie and sons-in-laws, Declan and Brendan and large circle of friends and neighbours.

Reposing at her son’s residence (Joe Bennett) at Skerry, Rosenallis (R32AHD2) from 12 noon, Friday, 6th February. Rosary at 8pm.

Funeral mass at 11am on Saturday, 7th February in St. Fintan’s Catholic Church, Ballyfin.

Cremation at 12 noon on Monday, 9th February at Newlands Cross Crematorium.
