Award winning Laois film composer and director Reuben Harvey is set to make his feature film and television composing debut with two major upcoming projects.
Harvey is involved with Fantastic Films and Screen Ireland’s new horror feature film: The Restoration at Grayson Manor and The sixth season of The Great House Revival for RTE and BBC.
Alongside these projects, the 25-year-old from Abbeyleix also composed the original music for four Screen Ireland short films screening at Dublin International Film festival at the end of this month.
Reuben’s debut feature film, The Restoration at Grayson Manor, is the upcoming sci-fi horror-comedy directed by Glenn McQuaid (V/H/S) starring Chris Colfer (Glee) as Boyd Grayson, a spoiled heir who receives experimental, subconsciously-controlled prosthetic hands after a horrific accident.
The film blends Gothic themes with body horror as the hands begin to move independently.
Colfer stars alongside Alice Krige (Chariots of Fire, Star Trek: First Contact) plus two Monaghan actors, Declan Reynolds and Matthew McMahon.
The film is set to have its Irish Premiere at Dublin International Film Festival on Saturday February 28 at the Lighthouse Cinema to a sold out crowd, following its world Premiere at Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas last October, the biggest genre film festival in the US.
The new movie was filmed at Stradbally Hall which is also home to the Electric Picnic festival.
Speaking about the film, composer Reuben Harvey said: “As my first feature film as composer, the movie was a huge undertaking and challenge creatively.
“Mixing unique musical genres combined with battling timezones while working with Director Glenn McQuaid, who was in New York at the time, but we got there in the end and we are both delighted with the results in the films score, now I’m just really excited to see it on the big screen for the first time.”

Following the festival on a separate project, Reuben’s music will take to television screens and be heard across the country for the first time on RTE and on BBC in Series 6 of The Great House Revival, in which he wrote the show’s new opening theme.

The programme, hosted by architect Hugh Wallace who sadly passed away in December last, follows homeowners restoring derelict, historic properties into modern, sustainable homes.

After a busy year, with more than 10 composing projects in 2025, Reuben looks forward to the year ahead, in which he is set to compose the scores for three upcoming projects being produced in London, Dublin and Los Angeles.
