Ratheniska man holding 5k fundraising run this Sunday ahead of trip to Zambia

Padraig Dunne from Park-Ratheniska is hosting a 5k run this Sunday, April 8, to fundraise fund for his trip to Zambia.

He will be travelling to Zambia in the summer for eight weeks teaching kids in the local schools with the voluntary organisation Suas.

Speaking to LaoisToday, he told how he wants to give these kids a chance of education.

He said: “In Zambia millions of children are deprived of literacy and education through no fault of their own.

“I will be teaching in schools in the town of Kabwe to give these children hope and an opportunity in Education.

“I have been to Zambia once previously in 5th year with St. Mary’s CBS in 2015.

“After that experience I was eager to return to Zambia and luckily I am this summer.”

The run will take place at 1pm in Ratheneska on Sunday afternoon with registration at 12.30pm.

So be sure to come out and and help fundraise this event on Sunday afternoon.
