Be vigilant, warn Gardai, as cars broken into at three midlands cemeteries

Cars were broken into at three different cemeteries in the midlands on Saturday with handbags, cash and mobile phones all taken.

The incidents occurred at Stradbally in Laois as well as Kilcormac and Lough Boora and Offaly.

Gardai are reminding people to exercise caution. “Be vigilant when placing items the boot as culprits may be parked up nearby watching people secure property. Remember to check that all doors are locked.”

Meanwhile, Gardai are appealing for witnesses to two separate incidents locally on Thursday and Friday.

Gardai are preserving the scene of a farm shed at Quarrymount, Killeigh in Laois which was damaged by fire overnight between midnight and 1am on Saturday morning.

It appears a fire was started causing substantial damage to machinery and equipment contained in shed. Fire Officers attended the scene which is now preserved pending forensic examination.

Elsewhere, Garda are also appealing for witneses to large row that occurred in Laois Shopping Centre on Thursday afternoon between 4.30 and 5pm involving a group of 10 people.
