It is the clash of IT Carlow and University College Cork that will attract most interest from Laois supporters as the Sigerson Cup quarter finals get underway this afternoon.
Two players who started in the Laois senior footballers Division 3 defeat to Louth at the weekend will be hoping to put that defeat behind them.
Stradbally’s Eoin Buggie and Ballylinan’s Alan Farrell will be in defence for the IT Carlow side while Clonaslee/St Manman’s Will Young should line out at midfield.
Stradbally’s Tom Shiel, who has recently returned from an extended injury lay off, will be hoping to get some action from the bench.
IT Carlow are also managed by former Laois and St Joseph’s midfielder, and LaoisToday columnist, Noel Garvan.
Elsewhere, Killeshin’s Eoin Lowry will be hoping to continue his impressive form for UCD when his side take on University of Limerick tomorrow.
The corner forward kicked four points in UCD’s round one win over IT Sligo and he will be looking to put Saturday’s poor performance out of his mind.
The last of the quarter finals takes place tomorrow afternoon with University of Limerick taking on DIT. Courtwood’s Danny Luttrell has featured for the Munster side this year and he will also be hoping to make an appearance.
