Portlaoise 3-12 Arles-Killeen 1-14
Laois Shopping Centre ACFL Division 1A
Arles-Killeen are still searching for a first win in ACFL Division 1A as two second-half goals proved crucial in the latest round of action this afternoon.
In a competitive clash it was Portlaoise’s ability to score goals that proved the difference with Paul Cahillane, Gareth Dillon and Dean Cullen all finding the back of the net, Cullen’s strike in injury time sealing the win for The Town.
A first-half goal from Dillon helped Portlaoise to a 1-7 to 0-8 lead at the break and although Jason Enright would goal for Killeen in the second half – he finished with 1-4 – Portlaoise did enough to seal the two points with a right-footed strike from Cahillane and then Cullen’s late effort enough for Portlaoise.
The sides are back in action next weekend again with Portlaoise hosting an unbeaten St Joseph’s side and Killeen away to a Ballyroan-Abbey outfit who picked up their first points away to Stradbally this afternoon.
