Gardaí are appealing for witnesses after a quad bike was stolen from Mountrath last week.

The bike, worth an estimated €7,000, was taken on April 6 but it wasn’t reported until the next day.

The burglary occurred at Kilbricken in Mountrath overnight and a white peugoet van was seen in the area at the time, but it is unclear if that is related to the incident.

The bike, a red Suzuki KingQuad, was being stored in a garage on the property.

Gardaí reckon that the thieves must have had a van or trailer with them to remove the item.

Anyone who may have any information, or who can assist gardaí, should call Portlaoise Garda Station on 05786 74100.
