Twitter and Facebook react as Our Duke lands the Irish Grand National

Robbie Power celebrates after winning the Irish Grand National aboard Our Duke in Fairyhouse earlier this year

We’ve said it before and we’ll no doubt say it again. Social media loves a winner.

And this afternoon after Our Duke – bred and owned in Coolrain in Laois – won the Boyle Sports Irish Grand National in Fairyhouse, the well wishes towards the owners of the horse flooded in on Twitter and Facebook.

Owned by a syndicate made up of the Cooper brothers Sloane, Nigel and Billy and their sister Hazel, the 5/1 favorite romped home, winning by 14 lengths. The novice is trained by Jessica Harrington and was ridden by Robbie Power and is now a 10/1 shot for the 2018 Cheltenham Gold Cup.

We’ve picked out a selection of the social media reaction.
