In pictures: Large attendance hears of historic links between Laois and Kerry

A packed room in the Heritage House in Abbeyleix on Thursday night heard of the historic links between Laois and Kerry.

Dr Michael Christopher Keane recently published a book entitled ‘From Laois to Kerry’, detailing how seven families in Laois were transplanted to Kerry in 1607.

Dr Keane is originally from Kerry but is of McEvoy descent – one of the Seven Septs of Laois who feature in the book.

He gave a talk at the Laois Heritage Society meeting in Abbeyleix on Thursday.
