Cannabis worth €150,000 found in Mail Centre in Portlaoise

Herbal cannabis weighing 7.5kg and worth €150,000 was found in two separate parcels was found at the Mail Centre in Portlaoise today.

The drugs were concealed in a child’s armchair which had been sent from the UK and in a collection of wicker baskets which had originated in Thailand.

They were being sent to addresses in Dublin and Galway.

Investigations are said to be ongoing with a view to a prosecution.
