Men disturbed trying to steal diesel in Mountrath

Gardaí are following a definite line of inquiry after an attempted theft of diesel from a bus in Mountrath this morning.

Two men were in the act of trying to siphon the diesel from the bus when they were disturbed at 12.15am on the Portlaoise Road in Mountrath.

Midlands 103 are reporting that the men then fled the scene, and syphoning equipment and a fuel drum were left behind.

No arrests have been made yet, but Portlaoise Gardai say they’re following a definite line of inquiry.
