Housing development planned for south Laois

One Cllr says the Council's Housing Department is in crisis
Concerns were expressed that Athlone will benefit at Laois's cost

Twenty new houses are being planned in south Laois, with an application for planning permission submitted this week.

Jim McDonald has lodged an application with Laois County Council for a mix of three and two bedroom two-storey homes in Killeen, Maganey.

One of the access routes to the development would be through the existing Bruach na hAbhainn estate.

Submissions can be made to the council up until August 10th. A decision on the planning application is due on August 31.

In 2011, Mr McDonald had an application for 27 houses in the area rejected.
