Appeal for information after wallet snatched in Portlaoise

Gardaí are appealing for information after a teenager had his wallet snatched in broad daylight in Portlaoise yesterday.

The incident took place around 3.20pm at Town Park in Portlaoise yesterday afternoon.

An 18-year-old reported that his wallet was snatched from his hand as he entered Portlaoise Town Park from the new road entrance.

The assailant, a male described as being 5ft6, thin, and wearing an all navy tracksuit, tried to escape but was chased by the victim.

He then discarded the wallet which was recovered by the victim nearby.

It isn’t known what direction the assailant took off in.
