Mary Sweeney
Straffan, Kildare / Portlaoise, Laois

The death has occurred of Mary Sweeney (London, England and late of Portlaoise, Co. Laois ) September 26th 2017, peacefully at North London Hospice, beloved younger daughter of the late Alec and Kathleen, (Glynnside, Portlaoise) and much loved sister of Catherine (Ashe). She will be greatly missed by her loving sister, brother-in-law Seán, nephews John & Rita, Michael & Jen, aunts Sheila and Angela, cousins, relatives and many friends.

Mary’s funeral Mass and Cremation will take place in London. Her Month’s Mind Mass will be in St Brigid’s Church, Straffan on Friday 27th October, at 7:30 pm.

Patrick (Paddy) McCormack
Kilcoran, Rathdowney, Laois

The death has occurred of Patrick (Paddy) McCormack, Kilcoran, Rathdowney, Co. Laois. September 27th 2017. Peacefully at the Midlands Regional Hospital, Portlaoise. Patrick (Paddy) in his 96th year. Deeply regretted by his wife Mary and his family, Eileen Fitzpatrick, Breda (Delia) Delaney, Jim, Phil, Pat, Angela Caulfield and Ann Moore, daughters in law, sons in law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sisters in law, brothers in law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Reposal was at his home (Kilcoran) on Thursday evening from 4pm with rosary at 8pm. Funeral prayers on Friday evening at 6pm followed by removal at 6:30pm to The Church Of The Holy Trinity, Rathdowney. Funeral Mass on Saturday at 11am followed by burial in Bealady Cemetery, Rathdowney.

Br. Augustine (Michael) O’Meara
Dunkerrin, Roscrea, Tipperary / Dunkerrin, Offaly / Castletown, Laois

The death has occurred of Br. Augustine (Michael) O’Meara, De La Salle Brothers, Kintbury, Barkshire, England and formerly of Dunkerrin, Roscrea, Co. Tipperary. September 19th. 2017. Deeply regretted and will be sadly missed by his brother Phil, sister-in-law Dena, brother-in-law Liam, nieces, nephews, extended family, relatives, friends and confreres.

Reposing in the De La Salle Brothers, Monastery Chapel, Castletown, Mountrath, Co. Laois on Sunday evening 1st October from 4 o’c with rosary in the chapel at 8 o’c. Funeral Liturgy and Mass in St. Edmund’s (Parish) Church, Castletown on Monday 2nd October at 12 noon, with burial immediately afterwards in the Community Cemetery, Castletown.

Louise Moynan
Derrin, Borris-in-Ossory, Laois

The death has occurred of Louise Moynan, Derrin, Borris-in-Ossory, Co. Laois. September 27th 2017. (Peacefully) at Tallaght Hospital, Dublin. Deeply regretted by her loving sisters Harriet and Vera, brother Abe, brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, nephews, nieces, grandnephews, grandnieces, extended family, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Reposal was at her residence in Derrin from 4 o’c on Thursday evening, with prayers in the house at 8 o’c. Removal on Friday evening at 6.45 o’c to St. Mark’s Church, Borris-in-Ossory arriving at 7 o’c. Funeral Service on Saturday, 30th. Sept., at 2.00pm with burial immediately afterwards in Skeirke Cemetery.

Thomas Edward (Tom) Pierce
Tarabapad Shillelagh Road, Tullow, Carlow / Stradbally, Laois

The death has occurred of Thomas Edward (Tom) Pierce, Tarabapad Shillelagh Road, Tullow, Carlow / Stradbally, Laois.

Late of Stradbally, County Laois. Suddenly at his home, sadly missed by his loving wife Rosemary, sons Bruce, Peter and Daniel, daughters-in-law Kayoko, Sharon and Julie, grandchildren Nathan, Kirsty, Fiona, Ellis, Roisin and Tom, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended family and large circle of friends.

Reposing at his home from 3 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon and up to 6 p.m. on Thursday afternoon. House Private thereafter please. Funeral service on Friday afternoon at 1.30 in St. Columba’s Church of Ireland, Tullow followed by interment in Aghowle Churchyard.

Sheila Dunne
Phibsboro, Dublin / Durrow, Laois

The death has occurred of Sheila Dunne, Phibsboro, Dublin / Durrow, Laois, formerly Aharney, Durrow, Co. Laois. In the loving care of the nurses and staff of the Mater General Hospital. Predeceased by her sisters Mary and Anastasia who died in infancy, deeply regretted by her brothers William, Michael, Patrick and James, sister Brigid, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Reposing at the Mater Hospital Mortuary Wednesday from 3.30pm to 4.30pm followed by removal to Saint Joseph’s Church, Berkeley Road, Dublin 7, arriving at 5.00pm. Requiem Mass Thursday at 12 noon followed by removal to Holy Trinity Church, Durrow Cemetery for burial at 3.00pm approx.

James Bennett
Cooltoran, Portlaoise, Laois / Bracknagh, Offaly

The death has occurred of James Bennett, formerly Clonsast, Bracknagh, Co. Offaly. Peacefully in the loving care of his wife Mary, daughters Brigid, Tricia, Bernadette and son Joe at his residence Gurteen Portlaoise. Deeply regretted by his family, brothers Peader and John, Tricia’s fiance Chris, aunt Nan, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, neighbours, relatives and friends.

Reposing at his residence Gurteen, Crookedy Rd., Portlaoise on Monday from 7pm with Rosary at 9pm. Reposing on Tuesday from 3pm with Removal at 6:30pm arriving SS Peter and Paul’s Church, Portlaoise at 7pm. Requiem Mass on Wednesday at 10am. Burial afterwards in SS Peter and Paul’s Cemetery. Family time on Tuesday morning please. Family flowers only please. Donations in lieu to Laois Hospice.

The death has occurred of Bridget (Bridie) KELLY, Ballykealy, Durrow, Co. Kilkenny, Bridget, deeply regretted by her cousins, relatives, neighbours and the staff of Brookhaven Nursing Home.

Reposals was at Brookhaven’s Nursing Home, Ballyragget, Co. Kilkenny from 4pm Monday with Vigil Prayers and Rosary on Monday at 8pm in Brookhaven Nursing Home. Funeral Prayers at 7pm Tuesday evening followed by removal to St. Tighernach’s Church Cullohill, Co. Laois. Requiem Mass Wednesday morning at 11am followed by burial in St. Bridgets Cemetery, Aharney, Cullohill.

Madeline Orange (née Delaney)
36 St Michael’s Park, Portarlington, Laois

The death has occurred of Madeline Orange,  36 St Michael’s Park, peacefully in the loving care of the staff of Oghill Nursing Home Monasterevin. Loving wife of the late Bobby. Deeply regretted by her loving daughters Mary and Madeline, sons-in-law Chris and Declan, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family and friends. Rest in Peace. Reposal was at Maher’s Chapel of Rest Portarlington on Sunday from 7:30pm with Rosary at 9pm. Removal this morning, Monday at 9:20am arriving St Michael’s church Portarlington for Requiem Mass at 10am. Funeral afterwards to St Michael’s cemetery Portarlington.

Nan Maher
Athy Road, Stradbally, Laois

Nan Maher, Athy Road, Stradbally, Co Laois passed away peacefully in the exceptional care of the Matron and her staff at Droimnin Nursing Home, Stradbally on 22nd September 2017. Sadly missed by her loving son Pat, grandchildren, extended family relatives neighbours and friends. Reposing at Droimnin Nursing Home this Saturday evening from 6pm. with recital of the Rosary for family and friends at 8pm. Funeral Mass at 11.30 in The Sacred Heart Church, Stradbally on Sunday with interment to follow in Oakvale Cemetery.

Br. John Neary
Miguel House, Castletown, Laois/Ballinagare, Roscommon

Br. John Neary, De La Salle brothers, Miguel House, Castletown, Portlaoise, Co. Laois and formerly of Ballinagar, Co. Roscommon. Passed away peacefully in Miguel House on Friday 22nd. September 2017. Predeceased by his sister Mai and brother Eddie-Joe. Deeply regretted by his brother Martin, sister Kay, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends, confréres and staff of Miguel House.

Reposing in Miguel House this Sunday. Funeral liturgy and Mass on Monday 25th. Sept. at 2.00pm in Castletown. Burial immediately afterwards in the community cemetery Castletown.
