Tools stolen from van in Portlaoise overnight

Gardaí are appealing for information after a van was broken into in Portlaoise overnight.

Tools were taken from a vehicle during the incident which occurred at Clonroske Abbey.

This happened just a day after a break-in at the Card Stand in Rathdowney.

At about 6.20pm a male entered the shop and robbed cash from the till.

He pushed the shop attendant a number of times before making off with a sum of money.

Gardai are investigating the incident and are appealing for anyone in the vicinity who may have seen anything suspicious to contact them at Portlaoise Garda Station.

Elsewhere over the weekend, a number of houses in Portlaoise and Stradbally were broken into over the last couple of days, according to local Gardai.

House so in Summerhill and Chandler Gates in Portlaoise were burgled between 7pm and 12 midnight on Friday, October 20, with further break-ins in Roselawn in Portlaoise and Newtown, Stradbally, on Saturday at similar times.

Jewellry was stolen in a number of the properties with the intruders breaking in through the rear of most and the front door of one.
