The East Laois Macra group recently presented Cuan Mhuire Athy with a cheque for €1,000 following a successful fundraising effort.

Every year, East Laois host an event with the intention of giving to a local charity.

For 2017 it was decided that money raised would go to Cuan Mhuire Athy and they held a pre-Halloween Fancy Dress on October 14.

On the night, representatives of Cuan Mhuire attended and the event was a great success.

East Laois Macra is made up of around 40 members which comprise of 17 to 35 year olds.

Some of the members are involved in farming while others are part of it for meeting new people and the social outlet it gives.
