Gardaí are searching for three men following a failed break-in last night.
The raiders were disturbed by a homeowner as they attempted to force their way into a house around 7pm.
The incident took place in Ballyadams.
The trio escaped in 01 TN silver Ford Galaxy.
This car was later found abandoned in Garryhinch, Portarlington.
Gardaí say that text alert was used last night to inform local groups.
Anyone that saw the vehicle in question or suspicious activity in the area is asked to contact Portlaoise Garda Station on 057 8674100.
