Portlaoise house ransacked by gang

Garda

A house was ransacked by a gang on the Ballyfin Road in Portlaoise recently which has left the owner terrified.

It is understood that a gang caused significant damage in the house, which was hugely distressing for the owner of the home.

Locals in the area were upset about the incident and did not wish to comment on it.

A garda investigation into the robbery, which took place over the weekend before last, is continuing.

Meanwhile, the garda crime prevention officer Sergeant Graham Kavanagh has advised members of the public to check their front and back doors at night before going to bed to ensure they are locked and secured.

If you have a house alarm, switch it on at night.

“Remember to make sure car keys are kept away from letterbox and and not in coat pockets, hanging at front doors,” he advised.

Secure

“Secure them away from the front doors, maybe in a kitchen drawer or upstairs,” Sgt Kavanagh added.
