New company aiming to create 70 jobs in Portarlington

New company

A new company is aiming to create 70 jobs in Laois in the next ten years.

Lift Inspect, based in Mingford, Portarlington, is holding an official launch in the Heritage Hotel in Killenard on Thursday night at 7pm.

According to Lift Inspect, there are approximately 30,000 lifts in Ireland.

They say that of these, less than 30 per cent of them received a safety inspection in 2017.

Lift Inspect’s plan is that all lifts will receive a safety inspection which will bring Ireland on a par with current practices of other EU countries.

All lifts require a safety inspection before use and every six months after.

The company aims to create 70 jobs in total in the next ten years, 60 inspectors and 10 support staff.
