Emergency services are attending the scene of a three-car collision on the old main road at Jamestown between Ballybrittas and Portlaoise.

The accident occurred at about 7.30pm this evening near the Delaney’s Roadhouse restaurant.

The road has been closed and diversions in place.

“There is a collision on the Ballybrittas/Monasterevin Rd (R445) north of Ballybrittas,” reported the AA Roadwatch website.

“The road is blocked, use an alternative route.”

Motorists have been advised to take extreme care in the aftermath of the recent snow storm. While most roads are passable, snow remains in places.
