London is bracing itself for an influx of Laois people this weekend.
From Friday, plane carrying Laois football supporters will start landing at airports around Britain’s largest city.
On Sunday, the Laois footballers will face London in Division 4 of the National Football League and it is estimated that more than 1,300 supporters from the O’Moore County will be present by throw in 1pm.
Laois Football Board chairman Laurence Phelan is one of the many who will be making the trip over and he reckons every club in the county will be represented.
He said: “Laois people are mad to get behind a team and with the start that the footballers have made, that has certainly helped.
“I reckon there won’t be a club in the county who won’t have at least one person going over.
“There is a real positivity at the moment and it is important we build on that now.
“Since Laois beat Wicklow two weeks ago, training has picked up again. The gauntlet has been thrown down to fellas and they are rising to it.
“We have to play the top three teams in the Division now. London ran Carlow to three points so we certainly won’t be taking them lightly.”
The LaoisToday team will be there from Saturday afternoon and if you spot any of us, make sure to come over and say hello!
