LIVE BLOG: Follow the updates as the Laois hurlers take on Antrim in relegation playoff

The Laois hurlers are in all-too-familiar territory this afternoon when they play in their fourth Allianz Hurling League Division 1B relegation play-off in as many seasons.

They made the trip to Antrim yesterday and stayed overnight in Ballymena ahead of today’s must-win game against the home side in Dunloy.

It was just as well they went a day early as the rest of the county is as good as snowed in today and the three-and-a-half hour journey was almost impossible.

Laois beat Antrim when they met in the regular stage of the league but failed to pick up any other win meaning they face the playoff once again.

Antrim got the better of Offaly last week in Birr but were already certain of finishing in the bottom two anyway.

Laois and Antrim will get very familiar with each other this year as they will also play in the opening round of the new Tier 2 Joe McDonagh Cup competition.

And if the teams manage to finish in the top two, they’d also face off in the final.

While the weather also prevented us from making the long trip to Dunloy, we will endeavour to bring you live updates, using both the Laois and Antrim Twitter feeds and updates we get from contacts in the Antrim venue.
