Two Laois teenagers released without charge following alleged assault

Gardai have confirmed that two Laois teenagers, arrested last week in connection with a serious assault, have been released without charge.

The pair, one who is a juvenile and the other who is 18, were detained in relation with to an assault of a young man on March 24.

A file has been sent to the DPP and Garda investigations continue.

A man is understood to have undergone surgery for facial injuries in St James’s Hospital following the serious assault.

The assault happened at 15.10 on Saturday afternoon close to Laois County Council offices.

The injured party is 19-years old.

The victim received significant facial injuries in the assault.

The fact that the assault occurred during daylight hours was even more shocking.
