Laois forward receives prestigious Rising Star award

Evan O'Carroll

Laois senior footballer Evan O’Carroll has been recognised for his role in UCD’s Sigerson Cup win.

The Crettyard forward played an integral part in the victory which was his first title.

He is one of five UCD players named in the Rising Stars team which was announced last night.

O’Carroll, who previously played for Maynooth, is now studying a masters in UCD and was on the scoreboard in the final against NUIG.

The Crettyard man was also a key figure as John Sugrue’s Laois senior football team won Division 4 a few weeks ago.

He put in a string of fine displays in the round robin stage that qualified for the final.

A back injury unfortunately ruled him out of the final itself where Laois defeated Carlow to claim the cup.
